Greenville Lion’s Sponsor Peace Poster Contest
Each fall, the Greenville Lions Club helps to promote world peace by locally sponsoring the “Lions Clubs International Peace Poster contest”. The purpose of the contest is to promote world peace by inviting students between the ages of 11 and 13 with the opportunity to design posters they feel foster this goal. The theme of the 2012-2013 contest is “Imagine Peace”. Hundreds of thousands of children from around the world will enter this yearly competition and share their visions of world peace.
This year, students from both Greenville Middle School and Flint River Academy participated in the competition. The first place winner at the local level (Jenna Toombs) will have her poster forwarded to District Competition.
The Greenville Lions Club makes a monetary award of $50 dollars for the first place winner, $30 for second place and $20 for the third place. The winner(s) and a parent or guardian, will be invited to be special guests of the club at one of their evening dinner meetings.

In honor of election day, the Flint River Academy Treble Choraliers Choir performed a concert at the school for friends and family. This forty member group consists of male and female unchanged voices in fifth and sixth grade. In this patriotic inspired concert, the students spoke of the greatness of America and encouraged their listeners to vote for the principals they hold dear. A brass band added to the patriotic spirit, playing with the students on the National Anthem, My Country Tis of Thee, America, and a two part piece set to the tune of Beethoven's Ode to Joy. Other selections performed by the Treble Choraliers included Choices and Teach me about my Freedom. Be sure to attend the next Choraliers performance December 3rd, when two choirs combine together to create a choir of over one hundred voices, all singing your Christmas favorites.
